The Unicorn Scottish Country Dancers
This lively group of dancers meets at 19.30 every Wednesday evening for a brisk and jolly session of Scottish reels and strathspeys, and new members are always made most welcome.
The group contains an interesting mix of experienced dancers and beginners, and we aim to dance with the elegance and style of an RSCDS club and the joie-de-vivre of a ‘reeling’ group. We meet every Wednesday throughout the year (19.30-2130), with a break of a couple of weeks in high summer and over Christmas.
The group is extremely sociable and organises a series of events throughout the year, including an annual Summer Ball, a Burns Supper and other impromptu gatherings.
A recent innovation which epitomises the Unicorn Dancers’ style has been ‘Extreme Location Scottish Dancing’, with the first two events being the medley ‘Schiehallion’ danced at the top of the mountain of its name, and ‘Fife Ness’ on the rocks of Fife Ness. Future events are planned to include ‘Autumn in Appin’, and ‘The Ice Cap’ is under consideration!
There is a small charge for each evening, which covers a lively evening’s entertainment with wine during the interval.
